Jim Valenti graduated from Lakeland High School and in 1984 was a cum laude graduate of the University of South Florida. He then attended the University of Florida College of Law where he received his Juris Doctorate degree, with honors, in 1988. Based on his academic performance in law school, he was selected to the Order of the Coif, an honor society reserved for those graduating in the top 10% of their class.

He and his wife, Christy, have seven children and live in Lakeland where they attend Covenant Presbyterian Church. Mr. Valenti has served in the community as a little league baseball coach, soccer coach, and as an officer at Covenant.
Jim Valenti currently serves as Chair of the 10th Judicial Circuit Bench/Bar Committee and is a charter member of the Willson American Inn of Court, an organization dedicated to improving ethics and professionalism among trial lawyers. He is a Past President of the Polk County Trial Lawyers Association.
